Onto roll #3. This roll of film was to start getting my feet wet with Kodak Tri-X 400, which is a classic Kodak film that’s still available. So far so good! This is the film I’ve been buying and shooting lately, so expect to see a lot more photos on this film.

We have 3 of Julian, and one group shot of the friends!

I think I have a workflow down finally for scanning, importing, and then post-processing my film. The real learning I have now is in post-processing the B&W pictures in Darktable (I recently switched from Lightroom to Darktable). Most of the guides and information I’m finding are about converting color photos into black and white, and not much on processing of B&W film photos.

This batch was relatively under-exposed (With more experience, I would have was shot at 800 or 1600 and pushed the film in development), so I told the scanner to scan it without any corrections, and did all the exposure & levels adjustments in Darktable (vs letter the scanner software do corrections). This was a great idea, because the scanner seemed to be pushing the corrections to an extreme, making me think most of the roll was not salvageable. Turns out a lot of it is workable, and there are a couple of fantastic pictures in there.
